If you have made intentions to make hajj this year, now is a good time to put in for vacation time from your job. Check now with the hajj group you want to travel and find out when their departure date is. Some are leaving the U.S. on November 26, 2008. The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah may be from November 28-December 8 or November 29-December 9.
A lot of people typically want time off between Thanksgiving and New Year. Putting your request in this far in advance (and keeping copies of the paperwork) will help you to avoid the problems that arise when too many people have already asked to take off at the same time or with dates overlapping the ones you need for hajj.
