Immunizations for Hajj

Vaccination

The Saudi government requires that all persons traveling to hajj have a meningitis immunization.  The immunization must be no more than 3 years old and it must be received at least 10 days before traveling to hajj.  In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends vaccines for hepatitis A and B.

Children should be up to date on their vaccinations. Children up to the age of 15 will receive oral Polio vaccine upon arrival in Saudia Arabia. Adults are advised to get a Polio booster as well.

The CDC recommends flu and pneumonia vaccines because of the plethora of coughs, colds and airborne illnesses at hajj.

The CDC recommends a Typhoid vaccination.  Also, don’t forget a Tetanus booster.
